HMEIMIM, Syria. Sept 19 (Interfax) - Seven groups of up to 1,500 militants have decided to surrender weapons in the Syrian provinces of Damascus and Daraa, the Russian reconciliation center in Syria said on Tuesday.

"Ceasefire agreements have been reached with the leaders of seven units of illegal armed formations numbering 300 to 500 people active in the provinces of Damascus and Daraa," the center said.

Forty-one people have surrendered weapons and sided with government forces near Tahoun Donguzia (Homs province) in the past 24 hours, the Russian military said.

A ceasefire agreement has been drafted with three more populated localities in the Homs province, the Russian reconciliation center said. The document is expected to be signed on September 21.
