Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan have no unresolved issues - Mirziyoyev

TASHKENT. Oct 5 (Interfax) - Tashkent and Bishkek have reached a high level in their relations within a short period of time that allows them to further promote their bilateral cooperation, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said on Thursday at a meeting with Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev, who has arrived in Uzbekistan for the first state visit.

"As of today, we have achieved great results in all areas, and today there is not a single unresolved issue. The heads of state support each other in a political sense," Mirziyoyev said.

The sides now "need to work to increase their bilateral trade and promote trade and economic ties," he said.

According to the Uzbek president, the countries have made progress in developing their border cooperation since his visit to Bishkek in early September. Several checkpoints, which had not functioned for a long time, have been reopened on the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border.

The agenda for today's talks also includes issues concerning military and military-technical cooperation, he said.

Atambayev said that Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan "should raise relations to a new higher level."
