DONETSK/KYIV. Oct 9 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian army has launched 24 attacks on the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) in the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the DPR operative command told reporters on Monday.
"The Ukrainian army breached the truce 24 times during the day. The army shelled the vicinity of 13 populated localities in the republic using mortars, infantry combat vehicles, armored personnel carriers, grenade launchers, and small arms," the command spokesman said.
Six homes in Zaitseve and a gas pipe in the Petrovskyi district of Donetsk were damaged as a result, he said.
The Ukrainian army operation staff said, for its part, that the enemy breached the truce 26 times during the day.
"The Ukrainian army had to return fire 19 times in order to force the enemy to honor the ceasefire," the staff said.
