SOCHI. Oct 11 (Interfax) - Russia will counter attempts to blame the Syrian government, without any grounds, for incidents involving the use of chemical weapons occurring on the territory of the country, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said during negotiations with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem.
"We will also firmly counter attempts to politicize the chemical dossier, the attempts to blame the Syrian government, without any grounds and without any professional inquiry, for a whole number of incidents involving the use of toxic substances that occurred on the territory of your country," Lavrov said.
Attempts to politicize the situation with Syrian settlement continue at the UN General Assembly and in the Human Rights Council, he said.
"Attempts to politicize the situation with Syrian settlement, to make unilateral accusations continue at the UN General Assembly and in the Human Rights Council, we will continue firmly countering it," Lavrov said.
Russia needs to know Syrian administration's latest evaluations of the settlement of the situation in Syria so that the sides can continue coordination on all tracks, the Russian foreign minister said.
The Russian minister told his counterpart he also intends to discuss with him today the interaction between the two countries' delegations at international platforms, primarily in New York and Geneva.
Lavrov also spoke about the two countries' joint successes in the fight against terrorism.
"Today we have an opportunity to discuss the foreign policy aspects of our partnership, primarily in the sense that, alongside the successes in the fight against terrorism as the Syrian army is advancing with support from the Russian Aerospace Forces, preparations for political settlement are becoming increasingly topical," Lavrov said.
A meeting of the Russian-Syrian intergovernmental commission attended by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin was held on Tuesday, where "specific decisions" were achieved, the Russian foreign minister said at the beginning of the negotiations with Muallem.
