Russia worried about militants' presence in de-escalation area in southern Syria - Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Oct 12 (Interfax) - Russia is worried about the presence of foreign terrorist fighters in the southern de-escalation area in Syria, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told a press briefing on Thursday.

"We are concerned about the ongoing presence of foreign jihadists, who are being sponsored from abroad, in the southern area," Zakharova said.

"The expediency of transborder cargo supply to Syria without knowledge of the Syrian authorities is doubtful under such circumstances," she said.
