Tightening of U.S. policy on Iran may prompt Tehran to retaliate - Kosachyov

MOSCOW. Oct 13 (Interfax) - The new U.S. strategy on Iran may prompt Tehran to retaliate, Konstantin Kosachyov, the Chairman of the Federation Council Foreign Affairs Committee, told Interfax on Friday

"Of course, we cannot help but be concerned about it, as the United States is making another arbitrary decision as to who is supporting terrorism and who is not, glibly using the 'aggression' term, and taking unilateral actions, which contravene earlier agreements. This attitude may easily provoke a response, and both Pyongyang and Tehran may declare that they have encountered a growing threat," Kosachyov said.

He made the statement in comment on the speech by U.S. President Donald Trump on his new strategy on Iran, which had been announced by the White House.
