U.S. coalition sparing Jabhat al-Nusra to use it in plans to topple al-Assad - Lavrov

SOCHI. Oct 16 (Interfax) - The United States is sparing the Jabhat al-Nusra, a terrorist organization banned in Russia, to implement Plan B in Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"Members of the U.S. coalition are now sparing Jabhat al-Nusra. There is a lot of evidence that it is being saved for a situation when it will be necessary to go back to Plan B, a plan for overthrowing the current Syrian regime using military methods," Lavrov said at a panel discussion at the World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi on Monday.

The U.S. has never succeeded in distinguishing between the moderate opposition and radical elements in Syria, he said.
