SOCHI. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Moscow is negative about the clashes between Baghdad and Kurdish militia and intends to encourage the parties to settle the conflict peacefully, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"We are negative about this clash, we believe it contradicts the interests of all people of Iraq, including Kurds. We want an agreement on how all people who live in Iraq will continue living in on state to be reached as soon as possible," Lavrov said at a young diplomats' forum in Sochi.
"We will encourage the sides to reach agreements, taking into account all aspects of this situation, including the regional aspect, bearing in mind that the Kurdish issue concerns not only Iraq, but also Iran, Syria, and Turkey, and it is in the interests of calm in the region, which has enough irritants as it is, to find acceptable solutions," he said.
