MOSCOW. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Russia has extended condolences to the Somali government over a major attack that took almost 300 lives and injured 300 more, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
"Moscow strongly condemns this inhumane crime, which has entailed civilian casualties. There is no doubt that the extremists' latest bloody attack is aimed at disrupting the Somali settlement process," the statement said.
As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, Russia will continue to support the Somali government's efforts to restore statehood, the ministry said.
"We sincerely sympathize with the families and friends of the dead and wish the injured the fastest possible recovery," it said.
A truck packed with explosives blew up on a busy street of Mogadishu, Somalia, on October 14, killing 276 people and injuring about 300.
