MOSCOW. Oct 17 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has said he would meet with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Moscow this week to discuss the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in the context of the latest remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump.
"There are plans to hold these negotiations, yet I am not ready to speak about their specific format, duration and other aspects, because this depends on the schedule of Mr. Araghchi and other Iranian participants in the events, which are taking place in Moscow on these days, and there are rather many of them. But we will have negotiations, that is for sure," Ryabkov told Interfax.
"We are still to decide whether the consultations will be formal and official or we will have a meaningful and long conversation on the sidelines. We think, however, that the conversation will definitely take place, considering the importance of this moment and peculiarities of the ongoing events," he said.
"Of course, we will focus on the JCPOA situation in the light of the declared intention of Trump to review the agreement's contents and the indications that the United States intends to supplement, adjust or modify this document in the way needed by Washington," Ryabkov said.
