Russia hopes for dialogue between Baghdad, Erbil, normalization of regional situation

MOSCOW. Oct 17 (Interfax) - Moscow is hopeful that the situation between Baghdad and Erbil will normalize, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov said.

"We hope for dialogue between Baghdad and Erbil within the framework of Iraq's constitution and with due account for the rights of the Kurdish autonomy. These rights are spelt out in the constitution of the Republic of Iraq. We are hopeful that a mutual understanding will be found between the central authorities in Baghdad and the Kurdish autonomy, and this will help find compromise-based solutions that would be acceptable for both sides," Bogdanov said on Tuesday replying a question from Interfax.
