IPU secretary general meeting with N. Korean delegation in St. Petersburg behind closed doors

ST. PETERSBURG. Oct 17 (Interfax) - North Korea's delegation is holding a closed-door meeting with Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Secretary General Martin Chungong in St. Petersburg on Tuesday, an Interfax correspondent reported.

One of the North Korean delegation's members told reporters that Pyongyang's delegation was also expected to meet with IPU President Saber Chowdhury on Tuesday.

When asked about U.S. and South Korean military drills launched on Monday, the delegation member replied that he had nothing to say about them.

As for North Korea's stance on similar exercises in general, they "create tensions between North Korea and South Korea and ruin conditions for dialogue," the North Korean parliamentarian said.
