MOSCOW. Oct 18 (Interfax) - Russia condemns the nuclear tests conducted by North Korea and, at the same time, urges the United States and its allies not to hold naval drills off the Korean Peninsula, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Wednesday.
"We strongly condemn those actions [the nuclear tests conducted by North Korea]," Ryabkov said at a conference on the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) hosted by the MIFI National Nuclear Research University.
"We deem it absolutely necessary to abstain from any steps, which may create tensions in Northeast Asia. Of course, this applies to the extensive naval exercises a group of states is constantly holding in that area," he said.
"We urge the sides to resume their dialogue and negotiations," Ryabkov said.
