DONETSK/LUHANSK/KYIV. Oct 18 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian army has breached the truce 50 times in the past 24 hours, the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic's (DPR) representative to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) told reporters on Wednesday.
"Ukraine committed 50 violations during the day. The number of munitions fired by Ukraine totaled 1,074. Two civilians were wounded," the representative said.
The self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) militia told Interfax of nine ceasefire breaches by Ukraine.
"The Ukrainian army has breached the truce nine times in the past 24 hours using 120mm and 82mm mortars, AGS and RPG grenade launchers, infantry combat vehicles, and small arms," the militia said in a statement.
According to it, the Ukrainian army shelled the vicinity of Sokilnyky, Almazne, Kalynivka, Kalynove, Kalynove-Borshchuvate, and Slovianoserbsk.
"No damage was done to buildings, and no casualties amongst the civilian population and servicemen were reported," the LPR militia said.
Kyiv reported 41 attacks by militias over the past day.
The Ukrainian army had to return fire 38 times, the army operation staff said in a statement. "Two Ukrainian soldiers were killed in the hostilities, and four suffered wounds of varying degrees," the staff said on its Facebook page.
Grenade launchers and heavy machineguns were fired on Ukrainian strongholds near Avdiivka, the Butovka mine, Novoselivka Druha, Troitske and Mayorske, and small arms were employed in the vicinity of Pisky and Kamyanka on Tuesday evening, the staff said. A mortar attack near Zaitseve killed a Ukrainian serviceman.
In the Mariupol sector, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions with 82mm mortars, anti-tank grenade launchers, and small arms on the outskirts of Mariinka, the staff said. Two Ukrainian servicemen were wounded in the standoff, it said.
In the Luhansk sector, 82mm mortars and weapons of infantry combat vehicles were fired near Novooleksandrivka, and Ukrainian army positions came under small arms fire near Krymske and Popasna, the staff said.
