Western Military District procures new tanks, planes in 2017

MOSCOW. Oct 18 (Interfax) - The Western Military District procured over 200 tanks and other types of armored vehicles, in addition to 12 new fighter jets in 2017, the district press service said in a statement on Wednesday.

"More than 220 new tanks and armored combat vehicles, including over 20 BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, 15 BMP-3 infantry combat vehicles, and 90 T-72B3 tanks, have been supplied to military units and formations of the Western Military District. The air force and air defense formation of the Western Military District has procured 12 new Sukhoi Su-30SM multirole super-maneuverable fighters," the statement said.

In addition, the Western Military District this year received more than 350 multirole vehicles, including army trucks of various modifications, it said.
