ROSTOV-ON-DON. Oct 18 (Interfax) - Investigators and officials from the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) detained Ukrainian citizen Roman Ternovsky in the Rostov region on suspicion of links to Right Sector, an organization banned as extremist in Russia, the Russian Investigative Committee reported in a statement on Wednesday.
"It has been determined that Roman Ternovsky, along with members of the Right Sector extremist organization, has repeatedly taken part in pickets, rallies, and other mass public events in Ukrainian territory; in addition, he propagated the organization's activities online via social networks," it said.
Ternovsky's actions were aimed against Russia's interests and have been classified as "organization of an extremist organization's activities," the statement said.
Investigators who searched Ternovsky's home in Rostov-on-Don found clothes and other personal belongings bearing Right Sector symbols, it said.
Ternovsky has been arrested.
