Kyiv, Vilnius discuss possible use of Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian brigade in Donbas peacekeeping mission

KYIV. Oct 18 (Interfax) - Ukraine is discussing the Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian brigade's participation in a possible UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas, Ukraine's First Deputy Defense Minister, Ivan Rusnak, said.

"Yesterday, a Lithuanian government representative discussed with us the possibility of deploying this brigade for executing tasks in a specific area where a UN peacekeeping mission would be introduced to settle the situation in the east of Ukraine," Rusnak said during joint committee hearings called "Bringing Ukraine closer to NATO standards" in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The hearings were organized by the parliamentary committees on foreign affairs, on European integration, and on national security and defense, an Interfax correspondent reported.
