Sides in Donbas conflict trade ceasefire accusations

DONETSK/KYIV. Oct 19 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has seen 47 ceasefire breaches by the Ukrainian army in the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the DPR operational command told reporters.

"The Ukrainian army violated the truce 47 times over the past 24 hours. The army attacked the vicinity of 17 populated localities in the republic using artillery, tanks, mortars, weapons of armored personnel carriers and infantry combat vehicles, grenade launchers, and small arms," the spokesman said.

In turn, Kyiv saw 53 ceasefire breaches by the enemy. According to the military operation headquarters, the Ukrainian army had to return fire 31 times, and three servicemen were injured in the hostilities.

In the Donetsk sector, Ukrainian positions came under attack by 82mm mortars and various types of grenade launchers in the Avdiivka area, and grenade launchers were used against the army near Luhanske, Mayorsk, and Kamyanka. More than 20 shells were fired from 120mm mortars on the outskirts of Troitske, the headquarters said.

In the Mariupol sector, an 82mm mortar was fired near Hnutove, and a heavy machinegun was employed near Starohnativka, it said.
