Russian Interior Ministry pledges further counterterrorism efforts

MOSCOW. Oct 20 (Interfax) - Russian law-enforcement agencies will not repeat the mistakes made by their Western colleagues in the prevention of terror attacks, Deputy Interior Minister Alexander Gorovoi said on Friday.

"Today, Russian law-enforcement agencies are not doing what Germany or France have done: he [the terrorist] was under their surveillance for several months until he finally perpetrated that terror attack. Our tactics are different, we are perfectly aware of the responsibility we have to the population of our country," Gorovoi said on Friday.

"Work in this area will never be diminished," he said.
