MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax) - The United States has made the Iran nuclear deal dependent on its domestic political processes, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.
"It turns out that the U.S. has once again made global security and stability hostage to certain opportunistic processes and let these issues be handled and considered by politicians and other figures who are in fact unrelated to the substantive part of the existing agreement," Ryabkov said at a panel discussion during the Moscow Nonproliferation Conference on Saturday.
For the time being, Moscow sees U.S. President Donald Trump's actions as "reflecting a certain domestic political layout in the United States," Ryabkov said.
"Nevertheless, we expect that emotions and political opportunism will not prevail. We hope priority will be given to our common desire to strengthen the nuclear nonproliferation regimes and provide preconditions for normal trade and economic cooperation between states and the maintenance of international and regional peace and security," he said.
