MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax) - The Russian corvettes Boikiy and Soobrazitelnyy, currently on a remote deployment, have traversed the English Channel, the Baltic Fleet spokesperson Captain 1st rank Roman Martov told Interfax.
"A group of Baltic Fleet ships consisting of the Boikiy and Soobrazitelnyy corvettes, currently on remote deployment, has completed passage through the Strait of Dover and the English Channel," Martov said.
While executing combat-training tasks in the North Atlantic, the ships stocked up on fuel supplies and conducted routine ship inspections, he said. To that end, they employed the Kola sea tanker, which also forms part of the group.
The ships also conducted joint maneuvers.
"The ships' combat crews, traveling according to an approved itinerary, conducted a mock joint search and discovery of a mock enemy's submarines as part of an exercise to organize on-the-move anti-submarine defense in the Atlantic areas," Martov said.
The naval group left the military harbor of Baltiysk on October 14 and set sail for the Atlantic Ocean within regular naval presence activites in the World Ocean.
