Uncoordinated terrorist groups still acting in Syrian de-escalation areas - Lavrentyev

MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Uncoordinated terrorist groups are still acting in the de-escalation areas in Syria, and a mechanism for responding to their actions is being worked out, Russian Special Presidential Envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev said.

"Uncoordinated though quite large groups of radical terrorist organizations are still acting in these areas, obstructing the establishment of processes in these areas and using the territories controlled by moderate armed units for attacks on the government, which naturally causes a retaliatory response," Lavrentyev said following the seventh round of Astana negotiations.

"We are now trying to elaborate a mechanism for responding to such actions to protect civilians," he said.
