MOSCOW. Nov 7 (Interfax-AVN) - Over 54,000 militants have been killed in Syria over the past two years, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov said at a meeting of the Defense Ministry's board on Tuesday.
"More than 1,000 populated localities have been liberated [in Syria], and over 54,000 fighters of illegal armed formations [including more than 2,800 from Russia and 1,400 from CIS countries] have been killed," Gerasimov said.
