MOSCOW. Nov 8 (Interfax) - Moscow supports Riyadh's efforts to hold an enlarged meeting of the Syrian opposition in order to form a united delegation to the talks in Geneva.
"The Russian side expressed support for the efforts by Saudi Arabia to hold an enlarged meeting of the Syrian opposition in Riyadh so as to form a united delegation to take part in the negotiating process in Geneva in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2254," the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website after a telephone conversation between the president's special representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, and Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir.
Al-Jubeir "shared his assessments of and thoughts on the situation in Yemen and Lebanon and on the anti-corruption measures being taken by the Saudi leadership," the statement said.
The call took place at the request of the Saudi side.
