Russia, Belarus concerned about NATO attempts to demonize Zapad 2017 drills - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Nov 15 (Interfax) - Moscow and Minsk are concerned about the attempts made by NATO to use a propaganda campaign against Russian-Belarusian military cooperation to increase its forces in the east, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"We have discussed the relations between our countries and NATO; in particular, we expressed concerns about the attempts to demonize Russian-Belarusian military cooperation, including in the context of the Zapad 2017 drills that took place in September," Lavrov said in Moscow on Wednesday at a joint press conference with his Belarusian counterpart, Vladimir Makei.

Lavrov said NATO's intention to "use this propaganda campaign to justify the additional deployment of NATO military forces to the eastern flank" also causes concerns.
