Russia continues implementation of contract for supply of MiG-29 to Egypt - FSMTC (Part 2)

DUBAI (UAE). Nov 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia is continuing to fulfill its contractual obligations to supply MiG-29 fighters to Egypt, the press service for the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) told Interfax.

"The contract for the supply of MiG-29M/M2 planes to Egypt is being implemented. I believe it is inconsiderate toward our Egyptian partners to discuss the details of this contract," an FSMTC official said.

Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheyev told Interfax at the air show in Le Bourget in June that Russia had begun supplying MiG-29 fighters to Egypt. "The first deliveries under the contract have already taken place. Pilots are now undergoing training," Mikheyev told Interfax.

Egypt's Assistant Minister of Defense for External Relations, Mohammed Abdulfattah El Keshki, told Interfax in late April that Egypt had received some of the MiG-29 planes under the contract with Russia. "Yes, Russia and Egypt have a contract on MiG-29s. We have received some of the planes, but not all. The fulfilment of the contract is continuing," Mohammed Abdulfattah El Keshki said then.

The MiG-29 is a Russian light fighter jet.
