MOSCOW. Nov 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian ships have helped remove over 1,100 tonnes of chemical weapons from Syria, the head of Russia's National Defense Management Center, Mikhail Mizintsev, said at the 3rd Interagency Scientific and Practical Conference, whose theme is "The system of interagency information exchange."
"The Defense Ministry assigned six warships and three support vessels to remove over 1,100 tonnes of chemical weapons from Syria," Mizintsev said.
The level of interaction between ministries and departments to provide comprehensive support to Russian air and naval operations in Syria "ensures the smooth and accomplishment of every task at a high level of quality," he said.
"Any issues pertaining to the use of Russian and foreign airspace or border and customs control exercised at the state border crossing are being successfully addressed in collaboration with the Federal Air Transport Agency, the Foreign Ministry, the Federal Security Service, and some other ministries and departments, which ensures the uninterrupted organization of flights both in the interests of the Armed Forces and for the achievement of other state tasks," Mizintsev said.
