MOSCOW. Nov 17 (Interfax) - Russia supports Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity; all issues in this country should be addressed by the Lebanese people themselves, without external interference, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"Russia maintains its commitment to supporting Lebanon's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity," he said at a meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil.
"And the most important thing is that we stand for the resolution of all pressing issues by the Lebanese people themselves, without external interference, by means of dialogue within the legal framework and taking into consideration the interests of all leading political forces," Lavrov said.
Lavrov said he is confident that "at the current stage, the Lebanese people will be able to reach a solution that will serve the highest interests of preserving stability and civil peace in Lebanon, the security of your country and the region in general."
