LPR to spare no effort for prompt prisoner swap with Kyiv - Luhansk

LUHANSK. Nov 17 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) is making efforts to carry out a prisoner exchange with the Ukrainian side and expects that it will happen in the near future, Olga Kobtseva, LPR envoy to the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine, said.

"In accordance with an order from the head of the republic, we once again observed the incarceration conditions of persons who have been detained due to the conflict," Kobtseva said while visiting the persons held in a Luhansk detention facility, pointing out that the LPR hopes the prisoner swap with the Ukrainian side will take place in the near future.

"Our side, at least, has been making and is making all efforts," Kobtseva said.

LPR head Igor Plotnitsky earlier issued an order that lists of captives be verified and their content be checked.

Information about the number of captives to be exchanged in Donbas provided by Vyktor Medvedchuk, the Ukrainian Choice movement leader, varies from Kyiv envoy to the humanitarian subgroup Iryna Herashchenko's data, she said.

"As a matter of fact, this prompted the republic head's order to verify the lists [of captives held in the LPR]," Kobtseva said.

"We are working in this direction, I hope agreements and obligations will be fulfilled," she said.
