Baku calls on EU to put pressure on Armenia in Karabakh settlement - presidential aide

BAKU. Nov 20 (Interfax) - Baku is calling on the European Union to take a more stringent stance on Armenia, Ali Hasanov, the Azerbaijani presidential aide for socio-political affairs, said.

"Azerbaijan is warning the international community of security threats for the region from the unresolved Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and calling [on it] to take resolute practical measures," Hasanov said at an international forum titled 'Threats to International Peace and Security Posed by Separatism' in Brussels.

A tougher European Union stance on Armenia could become another important factor in the strengthening of relations of a strategic nature between Baku and the EU, he said.

The forum is organized by the Azerbaijani State Committee on Work with the Diaspora.
