Lavrov to continue contacts with U.S. State Dept in coming days regarding U.S. activity in Syria

YEREVAN. Nov 21 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is expecting to continue contacts with the U.S. Department of State in the coming days in regard to the U.S. activity in Syria.

"As you know, there is information that the United States is sporadically using extremist groups, which should be isolated and destroyed. They are using [such groups] to their own ends, while pushing for their agenda despite the assurances that the only goal the Americans have in Syria is to wipe off the terrorist threat," Lavrov told a press conference in Yerevan on Tuesday.

He said he "would continue contacts with the heads of the Department of State in the next couple of days" to discuss the matter.
