MOSCOW. Nov 23 (Interfax) - Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir is the legitimate head of Sudan and in this sense he is Russian President Vladimir Putin's counterpart, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said when asked whether a visit to Sochi by al-Bashir, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court on charges of genocide, means that the Russian leader assesses this person's activities differently.
"I will leave this question without an answer. He is the legitimate president of Sudan. He is the legitimate head of state. He is President Putin's counterpart at talks," Peskov said.
