MAKHACHKALA. Nov 24 (Interfax) - Two people were killed and six injured in an armed conflict in Dagestan's Magaramkent district, an informed source told Interfax.
"According to preliminary information, the conflict occurred in the border area of the Magaramkent district on Thursday evening. It was also tentatively reported that two people were killed and six injured," the source said.
Children of high-ranking officials, whose names are not being disclosed yet, are involved in the conflict, the source said.
The gunmen fled the incident scene and are being sought by police, the source said.
The shootout occurred between two groups from the city of Derbent and the Magaramkent district, the informed source said.
"The conflict has a criminal nature. They had a business disagreement. The group from Derbent included relatives of former Derbent mayor Imam Yaraliyev, including a municipal assembly deputy, with relatives of the head of the Magaramkent district on the other side. This is preliminary information, it is being verified," the source said.
Also according to tentative information, the Derbent municipal assembly deputy was firing a weapon, and the police are looking for him, the source said.
"Of six persons injured, two were taken to the Derbent central city hospita with serious gunshot wounds. Doctors are fighting for their lives," the source said.
