ASTANA. Nov 28 (Interfax) - The date of the eighth round of the Syria de-escalation talks in Astana has yet to be selected, a diplomatic source told Interfax.
"There was a preliminary report on preparations [for the intra-Syrian talks in Syria] by the middle of December. The precise date will be announced around December 10. The possibility of holding [the round] either in the middle of December or after December 20 is under consideration," the source said.
Kazakhstan will be celebrating Independence Day between December 16 and 19.
The Kazakh Foreign Ministry has no information regarding the date of the 8th Astana round either. "There is no news about the date," Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov told the press on Tuesday.
Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Akylbek Kamaldinov told reporters earlier that the 8th Astana round might take place after December 20. Astana is expecting information about the precise date of the round from the guarantor countries, Kamaldinov said.
