MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax) - Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev and the Iraqi prime minister's national security advisor, Faleh al-Fayad, have discussed counterterrorism and military-technical cooperation in Moscow, the Russian Security Council's press service told Interfax on Tuesday.
"The parties discussed issues of Russian-Iraqi military and military-technical cooperation and contacts via security services and law-enforcement agencies. Issues related to combating international terrorist organizations in Iraq, Syria, and the Middle East in general were addressed. The parties affirmed the importance of further coordination of counterterrorism efforts," the press service said.
The Russian side expressed support for Iraq's aspiration to work together at regional negotiating platforms, the press service said.
"Certain aspects of trade and economic relations between the two countries were also addressed," it said.
Representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Defense Ministry, the Interior Ministry, the Federal Security Service (FSB), the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, Rosoboronexport, Rosneft, and the Security Council's office participated in the talks.
