U.S. ambassador identifies Ukrainian issue as key one for resumption of relations with Russia

MOSCOW. Dec 5 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian issue is the key one for resumption of bilateral Russian-U.S. relations, U.S. Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman said.

Ukraine is the key point for the resumption of normal relations between the United States and the Russian Federation, Huntsman told the Kommersant FM radio station. The Normandy format allows for talking about things that are important for both parties and reaching a final stage, he said.

It would be positive for the U.S. to move forward on Ukraine, it is linked not only to the U.S., but also Europe, the ambassador said.

The sustained presence of United Nations peacekeepers in Donbas would enable taking further steps envisaged by the Minsk Agreements, he said.
