MOSCOW. Dec 5 (Interfax) - Russia is extremely interested in preventing religious schism in the Middle East, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday.
"This region [the Middle East] is the traditional place of peaceful co-existence of representatives from a wide variety of ethnic and religious groups, the birth site of the key world religions, and we are deeply interested in preventing religious schism in this key region of the world," Lavrov said at a meeting with Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East.
