MOSCOW. Dec 5 (Interfax) - The reckless policy and interventions of external players in the Middle East have undermined the foundations of statehood of a number of countries and sown chaos in the region, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday.
"The Russian Federation is most actively involved in the efforts aimed at overcoming the negative implications of nearsighted and reckless policy of external players that have undertaken interventions in Iraq, Libya, and Syria," Lavrov said at a meeting with Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East.
"These interventions have sown chaos in the region, undermined the foundations of statehood of a number of countries and produced an environment very favorable for activities of terrorists and extremists," he said.
