MOSCOW. Dec 7 (Interfax) - The Russian military operation in Syria will be officially concluded after the commander-in-chief makes such a decision, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"A decision on this account can be made and will be made exclusively by the commander-in-chief, President Vladimir Putin, and we will inform you when he makes this decision," Peskov told journalists in reply to a relevant question on Thursday.
Upon conclusion of the military operation, the primary objective will be to promote a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Syria, he said.
"Geneva remains the primary forum. At the same time, both Astana and Sochi are significant assets and a very important track in terms of ensuring the Geneva talk's positive outcome," Peskov said.
Putin said on Wednesday citing Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu's report that Islamic State (a terrorist group banned in Russia) had been fully destroyed on both banks of the Euphrates River in Syria.
