West resorting to various tricks to portray Russia as main supplier of terrorists to Syria - diplomat

MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax) - Moscow dismisses attempts to portray it as the main supplier of terrorists to Syria and other countries of the region, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov said.

"The regular speculations portraying Russia as the main supplier of terrorists are a trick to lay the blame at someone else's door and distract the public's attention from obvious factors causing terrorism to grow around the world, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa," Syromolotov said in an interview with Interfax.

"These [factors] stem from the ill-devised policy of Western countries that decided in pursuing their geopolitical interests to destabilize the Middle East and Northern Africa and, in particular, destroy traditional security pillars," he said.
