IVANOVO-SEVERNY AIRFIELD, Ivanovo region. Dec 12 (Interfax) - A Beriev A-50 airborne early warning and control aircraft has returned to its home airfield in the Ivanovo region from Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday.
"The pilots have flown from the Hmeimim airfield after successfully performing their missions in the Syrian Arab Republic," the ministry said in a statement shared with Interfax-AVN.
The Rossiya-24 (VGTRK) television channel had reported earlier that the A-50 had returned to Russia from Syria. The aircraft was met by Military Transport Aviation Commander Vladimir Benediktov and the pilots' relatives.
