MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax) - The S7 company is ready to order 50 launch vehicles for its Sea Launch program, with an option for another 35, S7 General Director Vladislav Filyov said at a conference in Moscow on Tuesday.
"We are ready to close a contract for 50 rockets and to sign an option for another 35," Filyov said.
A new launch vehicle is being developed, Filyov said. According to presentation materials, this will be a two-stage rocket of a family featuring a uniform design, a uniform automated launch complex compatible with the Sea Launch infrastructure, and a uniform control system. It will be powered by engines providing maximum payload, the minimum cost price, and the possibility of manned missions.
Speaking of the cost price, Filyov said it should not exceed $600 per kilo of dry mass.
"The price of $600 per kilo will definitely be commercially successful," Filyov said.
