MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia has withdrawn a military-police battalion, demining team, and A-50 airborne radar out of Syria.
The battalion has returned to its base in Dagestan in the Southern Military District. It was flown from Syria to Makhachkala by two military-transport aircraft, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
The battalion was deployed to Syria in May 2017 to monitor the ceasefire in de-escalation areas and provide security for the civilian population and humanitarian aid convoys, the ministry said.
The demining team had been working in Deir ez-Zor since September 2017, it said.
The specialists from the International Mine Action Center of the Russian Armed Forces returned to the base in Nakhabino near Moscow, the ministry said.
In September, it said that the team sent to Deiz ez-Zor included 175 troops and Uran-6 demining robots.
The A-50 landed at an airfield in the Ivanovo region earlier on Tuesday. The aircraft successfully accomplished its mission in Syria, the ministry said.
