Russian squadron to stay in Mediterranean - source

MOSCOW. Dec 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian military ships will stay in the Mediterranean although the Russian contingent in Syria is being reduced, an informed source told Interfax on Wednesday.

"The warships continue to accomplish their missions in the Mediterranean," the source said.

The Russian squadron stationed in the Mediterranean comprises about 10 ships and vessels. The permanent task force of the Russian Navy includes ships and submarines, which have delivered strikes on terrorist targets in Syria using Kalibr precision-guidance cruise missiles.
