MOSCOW. Dec 13 (Interfax) - The contact group on Libya is working on the release of Russian prisoners in the country with the assistance of the Russian Foreign Ministry, group head Lev Dengov said.
"The tasks of the contact group include the release of our Russian prisoners. The court proceedings are now in progress. The Prosecutor General's Office and the Foreign Ministry are doing a lot to that end," he said at the Valdai Discussion Club on Wednesday.
Dengov also said the security situation in Tripoli, where he spent the past 2.5 months, has improved considerably, Dengov said.
"The security situation in Tripoli has greatly improved. Many representatives of southern tribes are traveling to Tripoli to begin reaching agreements," he said.
The contact group continues building relations with tribes in southern Libya and other representatives of the country to ensure that all sides achieve a consensus, he said.
