Rotation could be efficient measure to counter corruption in law enforcement agencies - Putin

MOSCOW. Dec 14 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that perhaps it would make sense to begin rotating personnel in the country's law enforcement agencies as an anti-corruption measure.

"An option similar to what we have in the army is suggesting itself. [Personnel] in our army is rotated all the time. This practice has already existed for decades. It is one of the components of military service," Putin said at his annual press conference on Thursday.

"Perhaps, it would make sense to organize something like that in law enforcement agencies as well," he said.

So far, the state is not ready to take such measures for a number of financial and organizational reasons, and also in light of the need to resolve housing problems, he said.

"But this rotation could prove to be relevant and could be efficient in law enforcement agencies as well," he said.
