YEREVAN. Dec 18 (Interfax) - NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian in Yerevan on Monday.
Gottemoeller said at a press briefing following the meeting that they discussed current security challenges and ways to broaden cooperation between Armenia and NATO.
Armenia-NATO cooperation rests on mutual interests, she said.
The individual partnership program implies close contacts in military education and defense reforms, Gottemoeller said.
Nalbandian, for his part, said that relations between Armenia and NATO are strengthening and acquiring new content.
"Armenia continues to contribute to international peacekeeping efforts; it has developed from a consumer of security to its supplier. Having confronted serious security challenges, our country is making a contribution to the effort for stronger security and stability in various parts of the world," Nalbandian said.
The Karabakh settlement process was another issue discussed at the meeting with Gottemoeller, Nalbandian said. "We deem NATO's assistance in the efforts and approaches of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to be significant," he said.
