MOSCOW. Dec 19 (Interfax) - It is important to reach a tangible result at negotiations between the Palestinian parties of Fatah and Hamas, which should also promote the Palestinian-Israeli settlement process, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"We deem it very important to achieve a tangible result in the contacts that have started between Fatah and Hamas via Egypt's mediation, because we believe that general Palestinian reconciliation and the restoration of Palestinian unity are among the key factors that would promote success in the negotiations [between Palestine and Israel]," Lavrov said in opening negotiations with Palestinian foreign policy adviser Nabil Shaath.
