MOSCOW. Dec 19 (Interfax) - Russia understands the challenges that terrorism is creating for CIS member states, and Moscow is not indifferent to where terrorists are fleeing after the successful actions of the Russian Aerospace Forces in Syria, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"It is extremely important for us to be closely following what is going on in this sphere [terrorism] in the world. The situation has greatly escalated. And naturally, it does bother us where the escaping terrorists will return to after the rather efficient, as you know, actions of the Russian Armed Forces in Syria. We understand where this all is flowing to and understand the challenges which are being created for our countries and our nations," Putin said at a meeting with the heads of security agencies and secret services of CIS member states.
Putin highlighted the importance in this regard of cooperation between security agencies in CIS countries and thanked the meeting's participants for their cooperation and the information they are sharing.
"For our part, we will do everything we can to inform you in a timely manner and take necessary measures together with you to ensure the security of our countries and our people, as has been the case thus far," he said.
Putin went on to remark that the countries face other challenges in addition to international terrorism.
