MOSCOW. Dec 20 (Interfax) - The Syrian governmental delegation's reluctance to discuss Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's future at negotiations in Geneva is essentially a precondition, which breaches existing agreements, Yahya al-Aridi, spokesman for the opposition's Syrian Negotiation Commission, said.
"We said that in Geneva there are no preconditions. That means everything is subject to discussion [...] And when you say you cannot talk about Assad, you are putting a condition, a pre-condition. So, automatically, you are violating what is agreed upon," he told Interfax in response to a question as to whether the Syrian opposition might renounce the statement that al-Assad should resign before the transition period.
